Glimmer-protected wood-fiber insulation

InnoDämm – Project start /

Wood-fiber insulation materials are good for the environment, but currently only attain Building Material Class B1 (normal flammability). In Building Classes 4 and 5, they may therefore only be used with an approval in individual cases. Whilst conventional insulation materials on a petrochemical or mineral basis are “flame-resistant” and can therefore be used in all building classes, they are, however, non-regenerative. In this project, we are developing a glimmer protection for sustainable wood-fiber insulation materials in order to improve their building material class and to expand their market potential. The aim is to increase the proportion of renewable raw materials in buildings.
